High Elms Country Park Apple Day

Apple Day at High Elms Country Park returns. After a period of unprecedented times, we are happy to announce that the idverde Apple Day event will be making a return on the 3rd of October 2021. Apple Day is a nationwide celebration that takes place in the month of October to prevent the loss of orchards, promote awareness of natural areas from the community surrounding them and highlighting the importance that these vast landscapes have on wildlife.

idverde has partnered with the friends at High Elms Country Park, a national charity dedicated to the preservation, creation and celebration of community orchards across the UK, to support the Orchard Project.

idverde has been restoring and maintaining the two orchards on site of the High Elms Country park since 2017, with training provided by the Orchard Project. We have also been working closely with the community to engage them in events to support the project.

Our first Apple Day event was held in 2017 and saw a fantastic response from the local community, with over one hundred attendees engaging with the attractions and activities set to teach the importance of their local orchard.

This year you will be able to join us and experience a variety of stalls offering handcrafted wooden items, cakes, apple pressing and tasting. One of the High Elms Country Park keepers will be offering a honey tasting session. The team will continue with the usual apple-shy game, and the fantastic Orpington Folk Club will also join us for some live performances. During the event, the park and charity will be looking for new volunteers to support the project.
