idverde and Wiltshire Council Continue Support for Box Hill Restoration Project

idverde, in partnership with Wiltshire Council, is proud to announce ongoing support for the Box Hill Restoration Project. This collaboration began in July 2023 when Paul Ashman, idverde Community Engagement Manager, initiated contact with Steve Murphy, a committee member of the Box Hill Restoration Project. Following their initial meeting, which included a detailed tour of the area adjacent to the Quarryman’s Arms, idverde and Wiltshire Council have been actively involved in several key initiatives to enhance the local environment.

Recent Projects:

  • Bird Boxes Installation: In September 2023, idverde supplied and installed two bird boxes on the Lower Common. Steve Murphy commented, “The boxes, the first on the Lower Common, were fitted to a Silver Birch and Ash tree and look great.”
  • Native Hedging Plants: In the spring of 2024, idverde supplied native hedging plants, which were planted by the community work party, contributing to the biodiversity and ecological health of the area.
  • Youth Reparation Work: A young person completed their reparation work at the site, which involved the manual removal of invasive plants throughout the area, aiding in the restoration efforts.
  • Interpretation Boards and Daffodil Bulbs: Continuing their support, idverde and Wiltshire Council donated two interpretation boards and over 300 Narcissus Lobularis (wild British native daffodil) bulbs. These were planted over the weekend of November 2, 2024, further enhancing the natural beauty and educational value of the site.
