idverde is playing its part in the climate transition

Since September 2022, idverde has been delivering Climate Fresk workshops. These sessions are being facilitated across the idverde group, as part of our commitment to ‘sensitise idverde and its key stakeholders to the climate emergency and biodiversity crisis’. In May 2022, six key members of the idverde sustainability network were trained to facilitate these sessions.

The goal is to inform and educate our colleagues, by raising awareness on climate change. idverde recognises great importance in sensitising our colleagues on a topic that can seem overwhelming, in a positive and engaging manner. Through mixed participation from all areas of the business, we foster shared learning and experience to better equip our colleagues to make a positive change.

What is Climate Fresk?

Climate Fresk is an interactive learning workshop which uses the contents of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) fifth assessment report. The workshop takes the IPCC’s 3000-page report and boils it down into a deck of 42 postcard sized information sheets which are used by the participants to complete the workshop. The group work collaboratively to piece together the story of climate change looking at the main drivers, climate science, environmental impacts and the consequences for humanity. Climate Fresk operates in fifty countries with over twenty-five thousand volunteers and a set goal of educating one million people by the end of 2022.

The purpose of the Climate Fresk Sessions

The sessions are designed to get participants involved as much as possible while providing progressive and logical information. Regardless of how much knowledge you might have before the sessions, the main goal is to ensure that you learn even more, leaving the room better equipped. The session follows a simple, yet effective, format of Learn, Get Involved & Think, which engages participants throughout the entire session.

idverde’s Sustainability Programme Manager, Dominic Knower has shared:

“I am delighted that the roll out of Climate Fresk within idverde UK has now started. We have a target of delivering this workshop to hundreds of managers, support staff and operational teams throughout the business. This will afford all participants to opportunity to come offline for a few hours to learn about and discuss climate change within the context of both home and work life which are equally important in the context of the climate emergency. The sessions we have already run have been effective in creating a space for building knowledge, expressing personal views, sharing ideas and having meaningful conversations about the global warming situation we are in which is something many participants may not have done before.”
