Record-Breaking 2,227 UK Parks and Green Spaces Honoured with 2024 Green Flag Awards

idverde, the UK’s leading provider of grounds maintenance and landscape creation is delighted to share that multiple parks across the UK that we manage on behalf of our esteemed clients have been awarded or retained the Green Flag Award.

The prestigious Green Flag Award is the highest recognised quality mark that recognises excellence in parks and green spaces.

The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, ensures that parks meet community needs, are well-maintained and safe, and promote healthy lifestyles.

You can view the full list of winners on The Green Flag website here.

Some of the idverde managed parks included are as follows:

Michael Hovers, Communities, Open Spaces & Facilities Manager remarked; “I am pleased to announce that we have retained Green Flag awards for both Bramshall Park and Stapenhill Gardens. Many thanks for all your hard work and efforts. Achieving the Green Flag standard demonstrates that these parks are well maintained throughout the entire year and is also testimony to the positive team work between East Staffs, idverde and our various community contacts.” You can read more about Stapenhill Gardens and the work we do here.

Forest Road Green Belt – Charnwood Borough Council

Following a full Green Flag judging in May, The Forest Road Green Belt has retained the Community Green Flag for 2024/2025. This year’s judge was particularly impressed with the partnership working between CBC, idverde, Serco and, The Forest Road Green Belt Gardeners.

Judge, Tim Crawford, commented; “Forest Road Green Belt was a lovely site to visit, and well worthy of its Community Green Flag award. I have used the word ‘Team’ a lot in my comments, this is because I didn’t want to single out individuals or groups as I felt that the sites overall success was very much down to everybody working together and sharing a joint goal. The reward is the retention of the Green Flag.”

Nicola Clarke, idverde Community Engagement Officer, said; “May I express my heartfelt thanks to everyone involved on the site for all their hard work and dedication to making the Forest Road Green Belt such a wonderful Green space.”

Dothill and Shawbirch Local Nature Reserve, Hartshill Park, Dale End Park and Dawley Park – Telford and Wrekin Council

Green Flag Awards for 2024/2025 have also been retained at 3 idverde managed Telford & Wrekin Council parks, plus Dothill and Shawbirch Local Nature Reserve, which received Green Flag recognition for the first time.

Announcing the Green Flag award for Dothill and Shawbirch Local Nature Reserve, judges said; “The site is an excellent green and blue space tucked away within housing areas where the local community cherish it. Congratulations on being awarded the Green Flag. The hard work of everyone involved is evident, you have a site to be proud of.”

Abington Park – West Northamptonshire Council

Following a full judging at the beginning of June 2024, Abington Park has retained the Green Flag for 2024/2025.

The judges noted that to improve biodiversity ‘No Mow May’ has been practiced for the last 2 years with a large area of the informal park left as meadow with large desire line paths cut to maintain access.  They said ‘This area is very attractive, particularly when viewed from the stone arch remains.’

Congratulations to everyone.”
