idverde Celebrating Green Apple Environment Award Win!

We are thrilled to announce that we have won a Green Apple Environment Award in the Cultivating Futures category (Education and training partnerships sector) at the prestigious Sky Garden! The award ceremony will take place at Kensington Palace on the 18th of November.

About the Green Apple Environment Awards

Established in 1994, the Green Apple Environment Awards are an annual campaign designed to recognise, reward, and promote environmental best practices worldwide. This esteemed awards scheme was the first to be accredited as an official feeder scheme into the European Business Awards for the Environment and is now the only official feeder scheme into the Green World Awards, held in different countries each year. The awards are run by The Green Organisation, an independent, international, non-political, non-profit environment group dedicated to recognising and promoting environmental excellence globally.

The aims of the Green Apple Awards are:

  • To improve environmental performance.
  • To encourage the efficient use of resources.
  • To enhance the competitiveness of organisations.
  • To support the wider goals of sustainable development, including social benefits through community and staff involvement.
  • To help Green Apple Award winners benefit from their environmental endeavours

Our Award-Winning Partnership

Our award-winning submission highlights the innovative partnership between idverde and Capel Manor College, centred around the unique Sky Garden at 20 Fenchurch Street. This collaboration provides students with invaluable educational and professional opportunities in horticulture, including site visits, sustainability talks, and work placements. Through practical learning, students gain essential skills to sustain and enhance London’s green spaces, contributing positively to the city’s green agenda. The project also supports ongoing professional development for staff to ensure they remain up to date with industry advancements.

Recognising the importance of accessibility, the partnership is committed to removing barriers that might prevent certain students from participating. To ensure inclusivity, idverde sponsors travel expenses for students commuting to central London, preventing financial constraints from excluding potential participants. By offering mentorship and creating an environment that supports diverse learning experiences, the collaboration helps create a more equitable educational landscape, ensuring that all students can benefit from these unique learning opportunities.

idverde Managing Director Richard Burton, said “We are immensely proud of our partnership with Capel Manor College, which reflects our commitment to inclusivity and professional development in the green sector. This initiative ensures that all horticultural students, regardless of their background, have access to invaluable learning opportunities in the centre of London.”

We look forward to celebrating this achievement and continuing our efforts to cultivate a greener future!
