The Secret Garden is a 52 home development located in Horsham, West Sussex. Set against the charming countryside, the development attempts to balance 21st century living with a surrounding countryside feel.
Our Role
idverde was asked to design, supply and install bespoke front and rear gardens for three show home plots. The design influences were chosen by idverde from Frances Hodgson Burnett’s ‘The Secret Garden’: a story of a young girl who discovers an overgrown garden which she then transforms.
idverde maintained a strong relationship with Bellway Homes having delivered all of their previous bespoke projects in this region. The gardens were designed to be well-established, mature and had very non-traditional designs. This became a challenge as both the client and prospective residents would be expecting large, open-planned gardens. This was resolved by idverde’s teams developing the project with strong artistic merit, segregating the garden areas to personalise them to each individual housing plot. idverde ensured the successful implementation of the designs, developed according to the client’s budget and expectations. Offering a personal and dedicated approach to their work, idverde’s regional operations manager created a homemade wooden plaque to be hung in the gardens.
Design:
The client’s initial design ideas were influenced by a ‘Chelsea flower show’ style garden, which was then tailored through regular consultation by idverde to a wilder countryside theme.
